SIA unveils application process for the 2025 "25 Emerging Stars" Recognition Program
The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced the call for nominations for the 2025 SIA 25 on the RISE Awards, an annual event that recognizes emerging leaders in the security industry. These awards celebrate individuals who demonstrate exceptional leadership and impact, and the 2025 class of honorees will be recognized during a special award ceremony at Securing New Ground, the security industry's executive conference.
The SIA RISE community, a group that fosters the careers of young professionals in the security industry, is behind the awards. Genetec and HID provide generous support for the event.
To be eligible for nomination, candidates must be emerging leaders in the security industry with at least one year of professional experience in security-related roles. Nominees should be full-time employees in security companies, ideally members of the SIA or related organizations. Applications typically require supporting materials such as essays or personal statements highlighting leadership qualities, industry impact, and future goals.
The awards include several categories recognizing different types of leadership and contributions. These categories include Leadership, Innovation, Rising Star, and Diversity & Inclusion. The Leadership category honours individuals in management roles with outstanding leadership qualities who set an example for others. The Innovation category recognizes those driving technological or process innovation in the security field. The Rising Star category honours promising upcoming talent demonstrating potential for long-term impact in security. The Diversity & Inclusion category is awarded to those fostering workplace culture that values diverse talent and promotes inclusivity.
The application process involves completing an application form with accurate information, submitting an essay addressing questions about career impact, initiative beyond formal duties, and diversity efforts, providing professional references, and having the application reviewed by a selection committee composed of volunteers from the SIA RISE committee.
The SIA RISE community offers additional resources for early and mid-career professionals, including the TIME program, an annual scholarship, networking events, mentorship programs, career growth webinars, trade show education tracks, and the AcceleRISE conference. The SIA 25 on the RISE program accepts nominations for this year until August 31.
SIA CEO Don Erickson stated that the 25 on the RISE Awards are a unique way to celebrate security's rising stars. Each year, the awards honour 25 security leaders who have made impactful contributions to advancing the security industry. The 2025 class of honorees will be recognized during a special award ceremony at Securing New Ground, taking place Oct. 14-15 in New York City.
