New Trainee Teachers Sworn In and Assigned Mentors

Sixty-one new trainee teachers, including 46 for primary school teaching and 12 for secondary school teaching, were recently sworn in as probationary civil servants at the Grundschule Kreuzschule in Regensburg. The ceremony took place in the old stadium, with State Minister Tanja Schweiger officiating.

The future educators were welcomed and introduced to their new roles, with each trainee teacher being assigned a mentor teacher at their respective schools for support and guidance. The mentor teachers will advise the trainee teachers about school life, help them, and serve as a local contact person.

During the ceremony, State Minister Tanja Schweiger wished the trainee teachers joy in accompanying young people and showing them their potential. Seminar directors Kerstin Lindner (primary school) and Esther Hoffmann (secondary school) were also in attendance, along with three seminar leaders: Xenia Bartunek (training manager), Helga Kopp (staff councilor), and Dr. Karin Kaiser (head of IFWB).

After the swearing-in ceremony, the new teachers traveled to their deployment schools to participate in their first staff meeting. Upon deployment, the trainee teachers will gain initial experience and be introduced to the essential tasks of an educator.

Thirty of the 61 trainee teachers will be deployed in the city of Regensburg, while the remaining 31 will begin their service at schools within the organisation. Numerous practical experiences are made possible through joint lesson analyses and discussions of essential teaching principles during the seminar days.

The trainee teachers will observe experienced colleagues to learn about pedagogical approaches and different teaching styles. They were given a first glimpse into the significance of the two weekly seminar days, which will provide them with ongoing support and guidance throughout their training.

The new trainee teachers are eager to start their teaching careers and make a positive impact on the lives of young people. With the support of their mentor teachers and the guidance of the seminar directors, they are well-prepared to face the challenges and rewards of teaching.
