Stanislav Ioudenitch of Park University Is Enshrined in Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame
In a recent ceremony held at the Steinway factory in New York City, several distinguished piano educators were inducted into the prestigious Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame. This designation is a testament to North America's most committed and passionate piano educators.
Among the inductees was Stanislav Ioudenitch, a native of Tashkent, Uzbekistan, who founded the International Center for Music in 2003. Ioudenitch, an associate professor of music/piano at Park University, is widely recognized for his strong individuality and musical conviction. His local and global contribution to piano education and performance was acknowledged with his induction into Steinway's Teacher Hall of Fame.
Gordon McNelly, owner and president of the Steinway Piano Gallery of Kansas City, nominated Ioudenitch for this recognition. McNelly found it a privilege to do so, citing Ioudenitch's mastery as evident in the accomplishments of his proteges. One such protege is Kenny Broberg, a graduate student at the International Center for Music, who won the silver medal at the 15th Van Cliburn event in 2017 and went on to become the bronze medalist of the XVI International Tchaikovsky Competition and the gold medalist of the 2021 American Pianists Association's American Pianists Awards.
Other educators inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame include Willis Delony, LSU Boyd Professor of Piano & Jazz Studies, Adam Salas, a Dallas-based piano teacher and faculty member at Southern Methodist University, Sergio Monteiro, director of piano and Steinway artist, and Donna Weng Friedman, a long-time teacher at Mannes Prep since 1989 and advocate for women and underrepresented communities in music. These educators have notable achievements in pedagogy, leadership, and advocacy in the piano teaching community.
Gavin English, president of Steinway & Sons Americas, expressed pride in working with the teachers inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame. English stated that music education has been a cornerstone of the company since the late 1800s. He went on to say that it was an honor to recognise Stanislav Ioudenitch's commitment to excellence as a performer and mentor.
The teachers inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame foster passion, creativity, and discipline in the next generation of piano artists. Ioudenitch, as the artistic director of Park University's International Center for Music, continues to inspire and nurture these qualities in his students. His induction into the Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to his dedication and impact on the world of piano education and performance.
