In Hamburg's Bundeswehr University, the national finale of Jugend forscht commenced on May 29, 2025. This year's competition, themed "Macht aus Fragen Antworten" (Turning Questions into Answers), showcased the efforts of 167 talented youthful researcher finalists. Competing across disciplines, including mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology, the participants presented 112 innovative research projects.

For the initial two days of the competition, the young researchers and jury members will deliberate in seclusion. On Saturday, interested parties can access the research projects and gain insights in a public viewing. One of the highlighted projects under development is a solar-powered E-bike, among others such as a retrofittable wheelchair propulsion system, improved breast cancer detection software, and a novel method for diesel fuel production using the Kolbe electrolysis.

A MINT (Mathematics, Engineering, Science, and Technology) campus with advanced technologies from various sectors will open at the Bundeswehr University on Friday. The award ceremony in the seven categories will transpire on Sunday at Lufthansa Technik in the presence of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The Helmut-Schmidt-Universität der Bundeswehr assumed patronage for the 60th national competition in the celebratory year. In total, 10,350 young individuals participated in the tournament with 5,664 projects.
