Successful Graduate from Perm' Had victories in Teleolympiad Gains Entrance as Student at MGIMO University (from Perm' Moscow)
A First-Place Finish:
Meet Maria Malceva, the 12th victor of the regional television humanitarian olympiad, hailing from Perвоуральск, a city in the Sverdlovsk region. Her success earned her a spot on a popular television program, where she faced off against other intellectual heavyweights.
Tradition dictates that the professor of the University of MGIMO and longstanding host of the program, Yuriy Pavlovich Vyazemskiy, poses the questions to the contestants. In the quarterfinals, Maria clinched a swift victory, and she continued her winning streak in the semifinals with just one penalty point. The theme of the final round was "Great Defenders of the Nation." Maria aced every question, receiving two orders and one medal in recognition of her achievement.

Maria shares her feelings about her triumph: "The emotions accompanying my victory were as intense as they could possibly be! The final rounds were filmed at the end of March, and it seems like it took more than two months from the time I won until the final episode aired on First Channel. Throughout that period, of course, the results had to be kept under wraps to maintain the intrigue. While I wouldn't say it was an agonizing feeling, there were definitely moments when it was delightful to know that I was carrying such a grand secret which I take great pride in."
Maria is the third overall winner of the television humanitarian olympiad this year. All 12 winners were subsequently enrolled as students at Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). The rector of the university, Anatoly Torkunov, personally signed the acceptance documents on the air during the broadcast. You can watch Maria's performance during the final round on First Channel's broadcast.
We remind our Sverdlovsk-based readers that MGIMO offers a special scholarship from the "Empathy" Foundation established by Michail Shelkov, one of the organizers of the regional selection. Maria Malceva will receive 50,000 rubles per month for the first academic year, provided she chooses her desired faculty. Last year, another victor from Yekaterinburg, Kirill Epishchenkov, studied at the faculty of "International Relations" at MGIMO and aims to build his career in diplomacy or government service.

Michail Shelkov, the founder of the "Empathy" Foundation and shareholder in VSMPO-Avisma Corporation, stresses: "Our scholars and scholars-to-be are distinguished by their quality comprehensive education, sophistication, and erudition. To answer all questions posed by the council and Yuriy Pavlovich, they had to delve significantly beyond their school curriculum. It is these types of individuals who are currently shaping the intellectual potential of our country, and it is essential to support them in their pursuit of knowledge and victories."
Joining Maria in Moscow for the filming were three more scholars from our region: Olga Lukianova (City of Каменск-Уральский), Anastasia Yaroslavtseva (City of Yekaterinburg), and Nikita Sorokin (Village of Buylanash, Artyomovsky District). All of them are candidates for the "Empathy" scholarship, as long as they enroll in one of the Sverdlovsk universities.

With the support of the Ural Institute of Management - a branch of the RANHIGS under the President of the Russian Federation, the Humanitarian University, the Palace of Youth, the Ural State Pedagogical University, the Institute for the Development of Education, and the UrFU named after the first President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin.
This year, Yuriy Vyazemskiy immediately recognized the quality of the preparation of the Sverdlovsk students during the regional final in Yekaterinburg and expressed his hope: "I truly hope that, as always, at least one Sverdlovsk winner will defeat me in the final round and become a student or student at MGIMO, as is the tradition for participants from the Sverdlovsk Region."
