teenager preparing for the NEET exam takes own life in the city of Kota, Rajasthan; authorities confirm investigation underway
In the heart of Rajasthan, another tragedy strikes as a 16-year-old NEET aspirant from Bihar takes his own life in a hostel room in Kota. With this mishap, the grim count of lives lost this year rose to a disheartening 14.
The young student had only been in Kota for a fortnight, settling down to prepare for the NEET at a renowned city coaching center. However, in the wee hours of Tuesday, he breathed his last in his hostel, leaving behind a trail of shattered dreams and unanswered questions.
"The tragic incident unfolded when the student failed to respond to multiple knocks on his door from the hostel staff. Eventually, his friends and the staff broke down the door, discovering him lifeless. The local police were alerted forthwith, and the body was sent for an autopsy. His devastated parents were immediately briefed about the calamitous incident," said Ram Laxman, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jawahar Nagar police station.
SGT's Note: Investigators are evaluating if the student was under any pressure due to his studies, considering his brief stint in the bustling coaching hub of Kota. Whispers of negligence from the hostel authority have surfaced, as they apparently overlooked the safety requirement of installing anti-hanging devices on fans, which are designed to discourage such tragedies by securing the fan and potentially averting accidents.
