Werner von Siemens Realschule Celebrates 65th Anniversary in Style
On Saturday, June 28, the Werner von Siemens Realschule celebrated its 65th anniversary with much fanfare and celebration. The school grounds were transformed into a bustling hub of activities, under perfect weather conditions, attracting a large number of visitors.
The anniversary festival was a testament to the school's rich history and its commitment to fostering a vibrant learning environment. The school motto, "Together · For each other · From each other", resonated throughout the day, as students, teachers, and alumni came together to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Three former students, Reinhard Groß, Hans Pettelkau, and Wolfgang Höcker, who are students of the first hour, attended the festival and celebrated their 60th school graduation. They reminisced about the time when the school had its own swimming pool and shared fond memories of their school days.
Classes presented project work on various topics, showcasing the creativity and hard work of the students. Creative games and activities were available for visitors, adding an element of fun to the festivities.
The festival's centerpiece was a stage with a colorful program. The school band and teacher band performed musically, starting with the "Tote Hosen" song "Days like these". Cultural performances, including music, dance, and drama by students, were a highlight of the event.
Banners created by students on the theme "What does hope mean to you?" were displayed, reflecting the school's values and vision. A balloon release activity took place during the festival, symbolizing the hopes and dreams of the school community.
The Angel of Cultures is present in the school garden, a symbol of the school's commitment to promoting cultural diversity and understanding. The renewal of the award from the network "School without Racism - School with Courage" was celebrated on the stage, reinforcing the school's dedication to creating an inclusive environment.
The school principal, Alexander Schrimpf, was pleased with the visit of Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller, who graced the occasion with his presence. Dirk Sauerborn and Andreas Merten, two alumni, cycled around 300 kilometers to Werner von Siemens' birthplace in Lenthe, Lower Saxony, and raised 1250 euros for the school support association during their cycling trip.
After the festival, report cards are to be issued, and everyone looks forward to the summer holidays. As the school celebrates its 65th anniversary, it continues to uphold its commitment to excellence in education and nurturing well-rounded individuals.
The anniversary festival at Werner von Siemens Realschule emphasized the school's dedication to education-and-self-development, as demonstrated by the creative project work presented by the students and meaningful cultural performances.
