Two Powerful Women Lead Communications at Top German Think Tanks
Wiebke Ewering, a seasoned communications professional, now heads the Press and Communications department at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP). She brings extensive experience from roles at the European Council on Foreign Relations and the Dahrendorf Forum. Her expertise is complemented by Claudia Wessling, a journalist specializing in Asia, technology, and economics, who now leads Communications and Publications at the Mercator Institute for China Studies (MERICS).
Ewering's academic background includes a double Master's in Political Science and European Studies from Freie Universität Berlin and Sciences Po Paris, along with a Bachelor's degree from the University of Osnabrück and the Université de Montréal. She oversees all external communication at DGAP, ensuring clear and concise messaging.
Wessling, meanwhile, holds degrees in Chinese, Indonesian, and economics from universities in Bonn, Wuhu, Yogyakarta, and Berlin. She has written for prominent publications like Heise Technology Review and Handelsblatt, focusing on mathematics, information technology, and digitalization. Her experience includes roles as an editor and correspondent for German politics at Agence France-Presse.
Together, Ewering and Wessling co-authored a guide between 2016 and 2018, advising on creating influential policy papers. Their combined expertise in communications, journalism, and international relations makes them valuable assets to their respective institutions.
