UK-inspired move: France to display 'Adolescence' miniseries in schools
France's jumping on the bandwagon, yeap, they're showing the bloody Netflix miniseries Adolescence in their schools just like the Brits did. Elisabeth Borne, France's Culture Minister, announced this titbit in an interview with LCI, claiming it's all about getting teenagers wise to stuff like toxic masculinity and digital world dangers.
The French government scored the rights for educational purposes from Netflix, and they're planning to show bits of the series in schools for kids aged around 14 and up. That's 8th graders in Portugal land, if you're keeping track.
UK Kicked Things Off
The UK was the OG to show Netflix's production in schools, aiming to warn young 'uns about the digital world's perils and the rise in schoolyard violence. Prime Minister Keir Starmer dropped this bomb after the miniseries debuted on Netflix at the end of March.
Boy vs. Kitchen Knife Drama
Directed by Philip Barantini and penned by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, Adolescence revolves around Jamie Miller (Owen Cooper), a 13-year-old charged with stabbing a classmate to death with a kitchen knife. Talk about a twisted tale!
The drama kicks off when Jamie Miller gets nabbed by the cops, leaving his fam and sis with some puzzled and alarmed expressions on their mugs. As the story unravels, everyone – including Jamie Miller's family, therapist, and the cop investigating – starts to question whether he's really innocent.
