United Arab Emirates Presents National Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Blending Tradition, Technology, and a Worldwide Perspective
The United Arab Emirates Opens Its National Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has officially opened its national pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Japan. The pavilion, themed "Earth to Ether", is a multi-sensory journey that bridges the UAE’s authentic heritage and future innovation.
Located in the Empowering Lives Zone, the pavilion has been designed by Atelier Brückner to offer an immersive experience, showcasing the UAE’s history, achievements, sustainability efforts, and future plans. The design is architecturally inspired by the date palm and reimagines traditional Emirati architecture, using agricultural palm waste and Japanese woodworking techniques.
The pavilion serves as a platform to share the UAE’s story, aligning with Expo 2025’s global mission to provide a venue for over 150 countries to present their cultures and innovations. Key partners backing the pavilion include ADNOC, Space42, PureHealth, and DCT Abu Dhabi.
Visitors can expect a personalized, culturally rich experience, with 46 Youth Ambassadors, including 24 Emiratis, representing the UAE’s spirit in seven languages. Inside the pavilion, visitors embark on a sensory journey highlighting the UAE’s strides in space exploration, healthcare, sustainability, and innovation.
Activities at the pavilion include forums, workshops, and cultural programs that run until October 13, 2025. Visitors can enjoy Emirati cuisine, shop local designs, and participate in hands-on sessions. The centrepiece of the pavilion is a forest of 90 towering rachis columns, designed by the Earth to Ether Design Collective, a collaboration between Emirati and Japanese creatives.
The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries from the UAE, Japan, and other countries, including Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, and Ambassador Shihab Al Faheem. Dr. Al Jaber highlighted the UAE’s drive for inclusive progress, clean energy, and global partnerships.
The UAE’s position at Expo 2025 Osaka cements its status as a global connector of cultures, ideas, and innovation. Al Kaabi reflected on the nation’s legacy at World Expos since 1970, emphasizing the UAE’s commitment to fostering cultural exchange between the UAE and host country Japan. The success of the pavilion, evidenced by welcoming its two millionth visitor, exemplifies the UAE’s success in engaging a diverse international audience.
